How time flies!!!

Wow ok well its been quite a while since I updated this and decided to get back to it. :) We are still in Alaska. Not all that much has changed since the last post. Jacob has been deployed this year. He should be coming back in March of 2012. Over the past year he turned 21, over seas of course though. Hopefully in the next year we are going to be PCSing to the lower 48. I am going to be going back to Colorado for Christmas and Jacob's R and R. Luckily he will only be gone for a few months more. Well ill leave this alone for now and write some more later. See how normal things are lol its been a while and nothing has changed for us up here in Alaska. I will write more when there is anything to write. Hope all you are doing good. :)

Tamantha 21st bday part 1

We celebrated my 21st birthday by going out to dinner with some friends. I had my first legal alcoholic drink while we were out. It was a good dinner and the restaurant sang to me which was a lot of fun. Oh the desert was delicious too. After that we went to a liquor store so i could buy my first drink their too. Jakey bought me an ice-cream cake from baskin robins so we had cake at home. For my birthday present I got an acu purse i have been wanting from Jacob and a pair of sparkley Justin sandles from my parents. All together it was a great birthday,but its not quite over. Part 2 of my 21st b day will happen next time im home so me and all my Colorado peeps and my besty can celebrate too.

July 4th

July forth was a ton of fun. We went and bought fireworks a few days before and still ended up getting some that day too. Even though it doesn't get dark here in Alaska we had cloud cover so we were still able to see the fireworks pretty good. We did a lot of smoke bombs and para troopers so it was fun cleaning it all up.

Jacob got Promoted

Well everybody as of yesterday Jacob got promoted to a specialist and I am very proud. The ceremony was pretty low key and one other soldier got promoted as well. I got to pin him and that was such an honor. Basically the way it worked was we showed up and after the unit got into formation the sgt. said a few things and then Jacob and the other soldier went to the front. Then while some words were being read to the soldiers I went up took Jacobs old rank off and replaced it with a new rank. After that everyone goes up and congratulates the soldiers usually by punching their new rank. It was so cool to be a part of it and I am so proud that Jacob has done so much to get to this point.

Our Anniversary Weekend :)

Well hello everybody. We got back from our trip to Anchorage yesterday. It was an awesome weekend, one that will never be forgotten that is for sure. To start we left Saturday morning and got to Anchorage around 4 that day. We were able to drive around and look at the Army base down there. We were also able to go to the Diamond Center Mall that day. We ate Arby's which to everyone else is no big deal, but when you live in Fairbanks where there is nothing like that its quite a treat. It was also so wonderful to be in a mall again. Sunday was an amazing anniversary day, to start we went horse back riding and though it was raining it was so much fun. Our tour lady was amazing she prayed with us and was an absolute thrill to be around. We later went to the mall again and did some shopping. We also bowled since it seemed very appropriate for the two of us. For Monday we finished shopping and went bowling and ice skating. We also went to build a bear and made a cute little brown bear, it was a ton of fun. The drive back was long, but we were having fun looking at everything. It was such a wonderful weekend and a great start to our second year. We loved every part of it and staying at the Hilton was so nice. We can't wait to be able to go back.

Our One Year Anniversary

Well on Saturday morning Jake and I are going to road trip down to Anchorage. We are spending 4 days there to celebrate our one year anniversary. We are looking forward to seeing a lot more of Alaska and having some time to ourselves to go out in a city with actual things to do. :) While we are there, we will be going to malls and dinners. We are going to go horse back riding and on the way back we are stopping at Denali National Park. It is so crazy to think its already been a year, but its been great and a ton of fun. Just to catch up July 2009 to June 2010

Well just to update everyone since the blog is new. Over the past year we have done so much as a newly married couple. We go shooting at the indoor range and out at an outdoor range at least once a week. Since we have been here we also have a new 4 wheeler and Jacob is amazing at riding it and usually doesn't get hurt. We got our dog named Kloie for my birthday from a shelter and even though she is a handful, we sure do love having her. We celebrated our first holidays together and while it was hard to be away from the families, it was great to be with each other. Here in Alaska there is an Ice show. Basically beautiful sculptures are made out of ice blocks and people come from every where to see it. While out driving around one day we went to see the pipeline and it was really cool to learn about as well as see. The winter is cold, but very manageable and its fun to have to plug in your cars. Not really, but we are staying positive. The last few months started very slow in the snow melting aspect, but once its hot its so HOT. We were able to go home for our siblings graduations and it was a lot of fun being back home. Well I think I covered everything since we got here. We love our home and have a great time learning how to grow together.
